Job Description

Data Quality Lead - 9 Month FTC

Manchester | Hybrid

We are recruiting an experienced Data Quality Lead to join a central Data Governance Office within a global markets environment. This 9-month FTC will provide cover for the current lead and take full ownership of the 2026 Data Quality Plan, driving it forward with confidence and independence.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is both technically strong and able to operate comfortably with senior business stakeholders. You'll take an established Data Quality Framework and turn it into a fully embedded, operational process across multiple business entities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver the core 2026 Data Quality roadmap in the absence of the existing lead.

  • Work with data owners to embed the Data Quality Framework, ensuring responsibilities are understood and followed.

  • Conduct hands-on data profiling, assess data structures, identify anomalies, and translate findings for business stakeholders.

  • Define and implement data quality rules, working cross-functionally to ensure alignment and adoption.

  • Run ongoing data quality measurement cycles and ensure outputs are integrated into wider data processes and platforms.

  • Produce monthly Power BI reports for governance committees and leadership.

  • Manage data quality issues raised through the ticketing process, coordinating root cause analysis and driving remediation.

  • Support wider Data Governance activity, including critical data identification and owner training.

  • Act as the bridge between business and technology teams, translating needs, risks and requirements effectively.

Skills & Experience
  • Strong background in data quality, data governance, or a data analyst who has evolved into governance-focused work.

  • Able to work independently, take ownership, and lead delivery without close supervision.

  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to hold both business and technical conversations.

  • Hands-on technical capability:

    • SQL

    • Python (Databricks preferred)

    • Power BI

    • M365 tools

  • A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and confidence using new tools (including copilots).

Why Apply?
  • Take ownership of a key organisational deliverable with high visibility.

  • Work within a small, collaborative Data Governance team.

  • Build and shape a maturing data quality capability.

  • Opportunity for the role to convert into a permanent position.
