What you need to know about the role
This role is about developing and executing account plans for a portfolio of wire rod customers in international markets by developing propositions to maximise value creation for British Steel and improve customer satisfaction.

The position assumes responsibility for a large portfolio of international wire rod customers, products and supply chain offerings. The post holder is expected to contribute to the commercial success and development of the Wire Rods business. They will have an important influence on account performance in the short and longer term.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

* Execute account plans for specified customers including building up an opportunities pipeline to close sales in line with plan and implementing pricing policies to ensure maximum profitability over all hubs and supply chains, contributing to the delivery of the sector objectives.

* To have responsibility for managing specified customers including the Account Planning & Market Development processes. In tandem with local Regional Account Managers (RAM), develop and maintain strong customer relationships with in depth understanding of their strategy and needs to extract the full economic value for British Steel.

* To be the UK point of contact with the customer/Regional Account Manager, managing the core and wider account team, including overseeing Customer Service, Customer Technical Services and credit management activities and implementing initiatives to improve customer satisfaction.

* Contribute to the demand forecasting process, owning the preparation of the demand plan and overseeing progress of deliveries versus plan, to meet customer requirements and stock targets.

* To interact with Supply Chain and Operations teams in order to manage day-to-day adjustments, based on capacity for the accounts.

* Work closely together with the sector Marketing department in order to identify opportunities, refine value propositions, means of communication with customers and prospects in his/her customers and the whole of the Sector.

* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the voice of the customer is heard and is acted upon.

What we need to know about you
We are looking for the candidate:

Qualification and Experience Requirements

* A university degree is preferred but not essential

* A proven track record in working within a sales environment is required

* Experience in dealing with international markets an advantage

* Knowledge of complex supply chain processes

* The ability to carry out and prioritise business analyses

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

* It is essential that the jobholder has highly developed influencing skills, capable of being used with both customers and colleagues at all levels

* The role holder should have exceptional interpersonal, analytical and project management skills coupled with the creative ability to identify avenues of new opportunity for future growth and business expansion.

* Living within commutable distance of Scunthorpe or willing to re-locate

DESIRABLE

Previous experience in Steel markets preferred but not essential.
