Conveyancing Assistant / ParalegalPart Time - Maternity Cover (3 days a week)


A well-established and highly regarded regional law firm is seeking a Part-Time Conveyancing Assistant / Paralegal to join its Residential Property team on a maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal support professional to join a busy and supportive conveyancing department.

The Role


Working closely with Fee Earners and reporting directly into the department, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the management and progression of residential conveyancing matters. The position requires a proactive, highly organised individual who can manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

This is a part-time position, working three days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting Fee Earners with the day-to-day management and progression of residential conveyancing files
  • File opening and client onboarding, including compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations
  • Preparing completion documents for review prior to submission to accounts
  • Drafting bills and completion statements
  • Ordering property searches
  • Processing Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns
  • Liaising with clients, agents, lenders, and other third parties via telephone and email
  • Handling incoming calls and email enquiries
  • Ensuring files are maintained accurately and up to date
  • General administrative support including scanning, filing, and document preparation
  • Supporting colleagues and providing cover where required
Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a candidate who demonstrates:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal (ideally within residential conveyancing)
  • Strong working knowledge of conveyancing procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to multitask and reprioritise effectively in a busy environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • An understanding of client care and compliance procedures
