Job Description
The role: to support the preparation, administration, and reconciliation of service charge accounts across a portfolio of commercial properties. The role will ensure accuracy and compliance, working closely with the Service Charge Manager and the successful candidate will be methodical, motivated, flexible, and adaptable, with a strong desire to build a long-term career within an established and continually growing company. Initially, the role will
provide support to the Service Charge Manager in a variety of accounting and administrative tasks, with the intention that the successful candidate will progress to managing their own portfolio of properties over time.
Duties:
- Assist in responding to tenant, service charge consultant, and property manager queries
- Liaise with and assist property managers, asset managers, credit control/central accounts, and external auditors
- Raise utility and ad hoc invoices to tenants and landlords
- Check periodic invoices raised in line with budgets and within service charge caps
- Process service charge expenditure, journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Ensure costs are correctly allocated to cost centres and schedules
- Prepare income and expenditure reports ready for draft reconciliation and external audit
- Produce variance reports
- Assist in finalising annual service charge reconciliations, including producing service charge tenant packs
- Carry out ad hoc duties within the property accounts/property management team
Requirements:
- 3 years as an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Client Accountant /Service Charge Accountant
- Prior property accounting experience preferred.
- An understanding of how to complete bank reconciliations.
- Strong Excel – understanding formulae and formatting
- Good personality with a strong work ethic.
