Learning Support Assistant - Key Stage 1
Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full-time, Term Time (31.25 hours per week)
Start: March 2026

A well-regarded, two-form entry Church of England primary school in the heart of Welwyn is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive and inclusive team. This is a full-time position, working across Key Stage 1, with daily hours from 8.30am to 3.15pm (including a midday supervision duty with a 30-minute unpaid break). There may be some flexibility with hours for the right candidate.

The Role Involves:

  • Supporting children within the classroom environment
  • Working with small groups of pupils
  • Collaborating with teachers, the Inclusion Team, parents, and external agencies
  • Assisting with whole-class learning
  • Encouraging and developing children's independence

Ideal Learning Support Assistant Will:

  • Be nurturing, welcoming and inclusive in approach
  • Have prior experience working in a primary school setting
  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Be confident supporting English and maths across the primary age range
  • Be passionate about learning and child development
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Have high expectations for pupil behaviour and achievement
