Accounts and Tax Assistant

Location: London (Hybrid - 40% office-based, core days Wednesday & Thursday)

Salary: Up to £35,000 (DOE)

Working Pattern: Full-time or 4-day option available

This boutique tax-led advisory firm is expanding and looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their collaborative London team. What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing accounting working papers and draft statutory financial statements (FRS 102 s1A and FRS 105).

  • Preparing draft corporation tax computations and returns.

  • Peer reviewing accounting and tax working papers, providing clear and purposeful review points.

  • Filing company accounts and CT returns, including iXBRL tagging.

  • Assisting with company secretarial tasks such as confirmation statements, statutory registers and overseas entity filings.

  • Supporting bookkeeping, management accounts and ad-hoc client work.

  • Preparing VAT returns and submitting filings.

  • Liaising with internal teams (corporate tax, private client tax) to ensure smooth workflow.

  • Acting as a point of contact for clients, resolving day-to-day queries.

  • Keeping up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation.

Client Base

You'll work with a varied portfolio including:

  • Limited companies, LLPs, overseas entities, partnerships and sole traders.

  • Clients requiring quarterly or annual VAT/bookkeeping support.

  • Sectors such as professional services, consultancy, financial management, manufacturing, retail, landlords and investment management.

  • Corporation tax work including financial assets/liabilities, R&D and double taxation.

Who We're Looking For
  • 3+ years' experience in an accountancy practice.

  • AAT qualified, or ACA/ACCA part-qualified/qualified.

  • Strong grounding in accounts preparation and corporate tax.

  • Audit experience helpful but not essential.

  • Strong analytical and logical skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

  • Confident communicator who enjoys client interaction.

The Process
