GPN are delighted to be partnering with a well-established, multi-partner accountancy practice based in Central London, as they look to appoint a Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and play a key role within their growing accounts function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice bookkeeper who enjoys autonomy, client interaction and end-to-end responsibility across bookkeeping, VAT and management information.

About the Role

Working closely with Partners and Managers, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of circa 30 clients, delivering high-quality bookkeeping and management accounting support.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Full bookkeeping for a varied SME and owner-managed business client base
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
• VAT return preparation and submissions (including reconciliations)
• Bank, balance sheet and control account reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate ledgers and supporting year-end accounts preparation
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients, handling queries and providing day-to-day support
• Working across Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, tailoring solutions to client needs
• Supporting process improvements and best-practice bookkeeping within the firm

This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role with genuine visibility across the practice.

About You

• An experienced Bookkeeper within an accountancy practice
• Confident managing your own portfolio with minimal supervision
• Strong across bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts
• Comfortable liaising directly with clients and building long-term relationships
• Exposure to Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
• Highly organised, detail-focused and commercially aware
• Qualifications (AAT / CIMA or similar) are welcomed but not essential — practical experience and attitude are key.
