Job Description

As Product Principal you will be responsible for supporting the product development and management strategy, as well as supporting implementation of new private markets funds and, where required, fund amendments to support L&G’s private markets growth ambitions. The role holder will be a senior technical expert managing the development, design and implementation of market leading, competitively differentiated and compliant private market products and propositions across L&G’s range of private markets investment capabilities.

The role holder may, in time, assume line management responsibility for a small team of Product Developers responsible for a sub set of private markets funds, supporting work allocation, prioritisation, learning and development of the members of their team. They will be a member of the Private Markets Product team, supporting the Product Principle, Real Assets in the effective day to day running of the team.

The role holder will work closely with Investments, Distribution and other teams such as Risk, Compliance and Operations, supporting the Product Principal, Real Assets in developing product strategy and management plans for private markets, and supporting the design, delivery and maintenance of a robust product offering in conjunction with asset class and vehicle leads within Product. The role holder will also assist with market intelligence and customer insights feeding into product strategy and design.

In this role, there is an expectation that the individual will present at product governance committees, L&G committees and L&G or fund boards from time to time. The role may also require the role holder to chair or lead committees or groups in support of LGIM’s governance.

Qualifications

Deep knowledge of the international asset management industry including investor types, distributional channels, the competitor landscape and an excellent technical knowledge of private markets products is essential
A deep understanding of private markets regulation (in particular AIFMD) and strong technical knowledge of pooled private markets product structures across a range of domicilesand jurisdictions including UK and Luxembourg
Breadth of experience in private markets product strategy, development and management
Previous experience in design, build and implementation of private markets funds in a variety of domiciles
Product life cycle management
Experience in senior stakeholder engagement; ability to influence and engage at all levels across the firm and externally (suppliers and Boards etc.).
Experience in project management
Demonstrates high attention to detail and seeks continual improvement and efficiency in delivery of processes
Line management experience or a desire to manage a small team
