Trainee HGV Mechanic in Stone Cross - CV-Library

We are currently looking for a trainee HGV Mechanic to join our family run business in Polegate, East Sussex. The right candidate will be able to attend college on day release if required. However no experience is required as full training will be provided. We would also be willing to help a candidate complete NHV level if started the process.

Job purpose

Work as part of a team on our fleet of HGV trucks, trailer and tankers. – tools will be supplied.

Duties and responsibilities

Taking responsibility for ensuring our tools, vehicles and equipment remain operational through maintenance and repairs.

* Conduct necessary preventative maintenance and repairs to machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.

* Maintain knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental needs

* Support the necessary preventative maintenance and repairs to Forklift trucks, cars, vans, curtain sided trailers.

* Carry out periodic safety inspections of company equipment.

* Ensuring that the workshop maintains the company’s clean as you go policy.

* Maintain workshop equipment and keep it in good repair.

* Follow instruction, company rules, policies, and procedures

* Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.

Qualifications and Competencies

* GCSCE or equivalent required (ideally including English and Maths but not essential)

* Enthusiasm and keenness to learn

* Self-motivated with good time management skills

* Attention to detail

* Able to work alone or as part of a team

* Understanding of Health & Safety

Physical requirements

The role is physically demanding where you may be required to stand for periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis and carry out repetitive tasks when required. Working outside is a necessity for the role.

Hours

8.30 a.m. to 5.15 p.m. Monday to Thursday

8.30 am. to 4.00 p.m. Friday.

There may also be a requirement to work 2 Saturdays per month
