Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing project leadership for your own projects, as well as supporting the design team.

* You will be operating in a fast-paced customer lead project environment, needing technical, commercial and customer management skills whilst collaborating with some of the most innovative people, companies and technologies on the planet.

Responsibilities: Senior mechanical design engineer

* Utilising state of the art simulation techniques and design tools to design, develop and prototype transmission, driveline and actuation systems

* Engineering through design tools, calculations, analysis, simulation, drawings and technical reporting

* Responsible for the delivery of technical work packages and whole design projects from initial concept to working prototype

* Specifying materials, processes and designs that are fit for purpose and manufacturable

* Managing your own and others workload within small to medium sized projects

* Independently and confidently presenting influential material to peers, customers and technical forums

* Taking ownership of proposals/quotes from initiation through to submission with the client

Skills required:

* Proven experience of transmission design and/or analysis for automotive applications or similar

* A good degree or ideally masters in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, etc)

* High standard of competency in design and CAE analysis of rotating systems

* A track record of innovation for powertrain projects

* Successfully managed and delivered small to medium sized projects both technically and commercially

* Proficiency in key software packages within drivetrain engineering (SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, UGNX, Catia, KissSoft, etc)

* A strong understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering and applying them to solve complex problems

Additional:

* The command of a foreign language is a benefit, particularly, French, German or Korean

* Awareness of the commercial approach of a consultancy business will be advantageous
