Position: Automation Engineer

Location: Bristol, UK

Objectives of this Role:

Contribute to the development of the control program and operator interface for the tool.
Support other team members during the design, build, and testing of the system.
Assist in acceptance testing and onsite commissioning for customer sales.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Participate in project specifications and the full life cycle design process.
Write software for PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs.
Coordinate between departments to ensure smooth communication and efficient project delivery.
Maintain well-commented and structured code.
Conduct new machine commissioning at our Bristol facility.
Perform onsite commissioning at customer sites during installation.
Provide out-of-hours support on a rotational basis when required (maximum 1 week in 4).

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Relevant engineering qualifications or practical hands-on experience.
PLC programming experience (Beckhoff preferable, others considered such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
HMI programming experience (Beckhoff preferable, others considered such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Experience working with Servo Drives, Motion Control Products, Fieldbus devices, and pneumatics.
Knowledge of robot motion is beneficial.
Familiarity with G-Code or similar is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to travel for onsite commission work (estimated 10% of the time).
Awareness of machinery safety related to CE marking.

Languages:

IEC (phone number removed) - Structured Text and Sequential Function Chart (Essential)
C#, SQL, HTML5, Rapid (ABB Robot) (highly desirable)
