Job Description

Job Title: Sewing Machinist

Location: Gatwick/Crawley

Salary: £12.00 p/h  – Plus Bonus

Aspion  are currently seeking an experienced Sewing Machinist to join a growing team in the Crawley/Gatwick area. The successful candidate will have extensive experience using industrial sewing machines, particularly twin needle machines and overlocker machines. They will be responsible for operating these machines proficiently throughout all stages of the sewing process and should possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities:

Operate industrial sewing machines, specifically twin needle machines and overlocker machines, to produce high-quality finished garments.
Perform various sewing operations, including but not limited to stitching, hemming, attaching buttons, and creating decorative elements.
Ensure accurate cutting and sewing of fabric according to provided specifications and patterns.
Work closely with the production team to meet daily production targets and maintain efficient workflow.
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments and repairs as needed.
Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical issues that may occur with the sewing machines.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular maintenance and cleaning of sewing machines.
Follow safety protocols and adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist, preferably in an industrial setting.
Proficiency in operating twin needle machines and overlocker machines is essential.
Ability to interpret patterns, technical drawings, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues with sewing machines.
Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet production deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of health and safety practices related to sewing machine operation.
Benefits:

Your full year holiday entitlement will be 24 days in addition to the statutory 8 bank holiday based on pro-rata remaining 2023 annual leave.
5% employee / 4% employer NEST pension contribution. Medicash medical health insurance after 6 months’ probation.
X2 £500 bonus windows annually June / December (based on performance)
We are willing to consider part time staff (not doing the full 40 hours)

The work pattern will normally be 8.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 2.00 pm on Fridays including an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.
