Responsibilities of an Development Underwriter:

Serve as the primary liaison with brokers, providing expert guidance and support throughout the underwriting process for development projects.
Evaluate development loan applications, assess risks, and make informed decisions on whether to proceed with the sale based on established criteria and company policies.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments, to determine the viability and profitability of each project.
Collaborate closely with internal teams, including legal, and risk management, to ensure seamless coordination and adherence to regulatory standards.
Communicate effectively with brokers to gather necessary information, address inquiries, and provide timely updates on the status of their applications.
Stay abreast of market trends, industry regulations, and best practices in development finance to continuously enhance underwriting processes and mitigate risks.Requirements of a Development Underwriter:

Proven experience as a Development Underwriter in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of development finance and property projects.
Solid knowledge of underwriting principles, risk management techniques, and regulatory requirements applicable to development lending.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex financial data, market trends, and project feasibility.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
