SEN Teacher - Complex Needs (PMLD)
Southwark | Specialist SEN School | Full-Time

We are working with a specialist SEN school in Southwark supporting pupils with severe and complex learning needs, including PMLD, who are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team.

This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who is confident delivering highly individualised learning, leading a classroom team, and adapting teaching approaches for pupils with complex needs.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading learning within a specialist classroom environment where pupils require highly tailored educational provision. Lessons are often sensory-based, highly structured, and focused on communication, engagement, and functional life skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons for pupils with complex needs, including PMLD
  • Leading a classroom team of teaching assistants to ensure consistent and effective support
  • Using sensory, communication, and therapeutic approaches to engage learners
  • Tracking and assessing progress in line with individual education plans
  • Working closely with therapists, families, and wider support staff
  • Creating a safe, structured, and highly supportive learning environment

About You

The school is looking for someone who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with SEN, ideally within complex needs or specialist settings
  • A strong understanding of PMLD and multi-sensory learning approaches
  • Confidence leading a team within the classroom
  • A calm, adaptable, and resilient teaching style
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive and individualised education

The Setting

This is a highly supportive specialist environment in Southwark with strong staffing ratios and a collaborative team approach. Pupils require consistent, structured support, and staff work closely together to deliver highly personalised learning experiences.

Why this role is rewarding
  • Opportunity to work within a highly specialist provision
  • Strong multidisciplinary team support
  • Highly individualised teaching with real impact
  • Ongoing professional development in complex needs education
