SEN Class Teacher Vacancy in SEN School based in Sutton area (Immediate Start) in Sutton Coldfield - Zentar Group

We are currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher to join a specialist school on a full-time, long-term basis for the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working within a small, well-supported classroom environment and wants to make a genuine impact on pupils with additional needs.

You will be teaching a KS4 secondary class of approximately 7 pupils, allowing you to build strong relationships and provide highly individualised support.

About The Role

• Teaching a small KS4 class of approximately 7 pupils
• Pupils are non-verbal and have a range of sensory and additional learning needs
• Delivering lessons across all curriculum subjects, in line with the school's curriculum
• Adapting teaching and activities to suit different communication, sensory and learning needs
• Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour using consistent and positive behaviour strategies
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other SEN professionals within the classroom
• Some pupils require personal care, so you will need to be comfortable working within an environment where this support is provided
• Creating an engaging, structured and supportive classroom environment

Who We're Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Previous SEN teaching experience within a specialist SEN school
• Alternatively, strong experience working within an SEN provision/resource base, particularly on a long-term basis
• Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, sensory needs and communication difficulties
• Confidence managing behaviours that can sometimes be challenging
• A patient, adaptable and consistent approach
• The ability to teach across different curriculum areas rather than specialising in one subject

Monday to Friday

8:30am – 4:30pm

Trial Day

Selected candidates will be invited to attend paid trial day(s) during July 2026 as part of the recruitment process.

This is initially a long-term placement, with the potential for the successful teacher to apply for a permanent position directly with the school should a suitable vacancy become available.
