Data Protection Lead - £ per day - Contract in London - Involved Solutions

Contract: 6 months (extendable)

A Central Government organisation is looking for a hands-on Data Protection Lead to support major digital delivery programmes.

This is not a strategic DPO role. We need someone who is still close to the detail - someone who enjoys getting into the weeds, writing DPIAs, assessing privacy risks and working directly with developers, software engineers, data architects and product teams.

You'll embed Privacy by Design into digital products and help delivery teams navigate GDPR, data sharing and privacy risks in a pragmatic way - using data protection to enable delivery, not block it.

• Proven, hands-on experience producing DPIAs and delivering Privacy by Design within digital/technical projects
• Experience working directly with developers, software engineers, data architects and product teams
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR and data protection, ideally gained on large-scale transformation or digital programmes
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and finding pragmatic solutions to manage privacy risk
• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and communicating clear recommendations and risks
• Strong interpersonal skills - collaborative, approachable and able to work independently
• Government or large-scale digital delivery experience highly desirable
• Data sharing experience and qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPT or CIPM desirable

The key requirement: you must be a practitioner who is still doing the work - particularly DPIAs and Privacy by Design in a digital delivery environment. Strategic-only data protection/DPO backgrounds are unlikely to be suitable.
