Role Overview

Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception)
Start Date: September 2026
Location: Haringey, North London
Hours: 08:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, full academic year


Key Responsibilities

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils within the Reception class, including:

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering creative, play-based learning aligned with the EYFS framework
  • Supporting the preparation and organisation of engaging learning activities
  • Encouraging children's social, emotional, and language development
  • Working with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to support learning and progress
  • Helping to maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Observing pupils and contributing to ongoing assessment and development tracking
  • Promoting positive behaviour and modelling strong social skills
  • Supporting children with additional needs when required
  • Assisting with classroom setup, resources, and daily routines


The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have experience within an Early Years or Reception setting
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Be warm, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
  • Show initiative and confidence in supporting classroom activities
  • Be a team player who contributes positively to the wider school environment
  • Have strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
