Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School
Location: Eccles, Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only
Start Date: ASAP

Our education recruitment agency is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced Secondary SEN school in Eccles, and we are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support students with additional needs.

This specialist secondary setting supports young people aged 11-19 with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication needs, and associated behavioural or sensory needs. The school prides itself on creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students are encouraged to develop independence, confidence, and life skills.

The Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning and reach their individual potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the classroom

  • Assisting with adapted learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Supporting students with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

  • Helping maintain a positive, structured learning environment

  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and confidence in learning

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for patient, resilient, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly within secondary or youth settings

  • A calm, nurturing, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine interest in supporting students with autism and complex learning needs

  • Experience in education, youth work, care, or support roles (desirable but not essential)

What We Offer
  • Competitive daily pay rates

  • Access to ongoing training and professional development

  • Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant

  • Opportunities for long-term placements and permanent roles

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in a supportive specialist school environment

If you are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and are looking for a rewarding role within a secondary SEN school in Eccles, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today or contact our education recruitment team to find out more about this opportunity.
