Private Client Tax Assistant Manager

Nottingham | Permanent | Hybrid working

A well-established national accountancy and tax practice is looking to recruit a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join its expanding Private Client Tax team in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a private client tax professional with strong compliance experience to take on additional responsibility, manage a varied portfolio, and develop advisory skills in a supportive, people-focused environment.

The role

You will manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, business owners, trusts, and other complex private clients, delivering high-quality tax compliance services and identifying planning opportunities. You’ll act as a key point of contact for clients, support and mentor junior team members, and ensure work is completed to high standards and deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of private client tax compliance and liaising with both clients and colleagues to meet deadlines
  • Reviewing self-assessment tax returns and related computations prepared by junior staff
  • Supervising, mentoring, and supporting the development of junior team members
  • Proactively identifying tax planning and advisory opportunities
  • Building strong client relationships and acting as the primary client contact

About you

You will be a qualified tax professional (CTA or equivalent) with relevant experience in private client tax. You should have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage your own workload effectively while maintaining client service excellence.

You are likely to have:

  • CTA qualification or equivalent
  • Strong experience in private client tax compliance
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of clients independently
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and mentoring junior staff

Why apply?

The firm offers a supportive culture with a focus on wellbeing and career development, hybrid-friendly working arrangements, and opportunities to broaden your technical and advisory experience. The role also includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring generous holiday entitlement (including Christmas shutdown), private medical and dental cover, life assurance, season ticket loan support, enhanced family leave pay, pension arrangements, and employee discounts.
