Commercial Officer in Edinburgh - Matchtech

A leading Defence organisation are looking for a proactive and motivated Commercial Officer to join their Surveillance portfolio team in Edinburgh on a long-term contract.

• Role: Commercial Officer
• Duration: 12-month contract
• Pay: Up to £45 p/hr (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
• Location: Edinburgh
• Working Pattern: Hybrid

As Commercial Officer you will work closely with the Contracts Manager to deliver existing business commitments, support bid development, and help identify opportunities for sustainable growth within crucial programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customer teams and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).
• Represent the commercial function in stakeholder meetings attending independently where appropriate.
• Support the preparation, review, and submission of bids and proposals.
• Deputise for the Contracts Manager when required, ensuring continuity and clear communication.
• Provide flexible support across additional bids and activities beyond the surveillance area.
• Manage day-to-day contract administration, including:
  • Low-value repeatable proposals & SAP transactions
  • Credit/debit notes & Debt management

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, can build strong cross-functional relationships, and enjoys taking ownership of commercial activities from bid support through to contract administration.

Key Requirements:

• Defence or Aerospace experience
• Familiarity with military export environments.
• Experience with SAP
• Understanding of Military Export customer support structures.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and motivate at all levels.

The role requires a balance of independent working and team collaboration, with opportunities to represent the commercial function directly with internal and external stakeholders.
