Engineering Manager – Bus & Coach Heathrow & Surrounding Areas

Salary: £70000.

Looking for an Engineering Manager with knowledge of safety, reliability, around similar Bus or Coach / Passenger Service Vehicles (PSV / PCV) take the lead in a fast-paced, essential transport operation.


You will join the senior management team and play a critical role in keeping the fleet and passengers moving safely and on time.

This role covers a diverse fleet of buses and coaches, that delivering vital public transport services, Hoppa and private hire contracts across Heathrow Airport and the surrounding region.


The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, responsibility for the Engineering function, ensuring outstanding standards of safety, compliance, reliability, and cost control.

You’ll lead, develop, and motivate a skilled Engineering team while shaping strategies that support the operational and commercial needs of the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly impact performance, compliance, and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and control engineering budgets, delivering cost-effective performance
  • Lead and develop the Engineering team, driving engagement, training, and compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety, and operational legislation
  • Deliver and monitor KPIs across:
  • Vehicle inspection & servicing
  • MOT compliance
  • Fleet reliability & cleanliness standards
  • Oversee the effective use of diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, and engineering systems
  • Provide accurate cost analysis and insights to support operational planning

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager in a PCV environment
  • Experience managing a large fleet or multi-site engineering operation
  • Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. Level 3 HGV City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH qualified
  • Strong knowledge of DVSA standards, H&S legislation, and engineering processes
  • Confident IT skills and attention to accurate reporting
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends or anti-social hours when required

Desirable

  • CPC qualification (or working towards), ideally Transport Manager
  • Experience as a named individual on an Operator’s Licence
