Robert Half are pleased to be working with a well-established organisation based in Ely to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to broaden their experience within a supportive and collaborative finance team.
Working closely with colleagues across the finance function and wider business, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, and the day-to-day running of the accounts function.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with the production of monthly management accounts, including preparing and posting journals such as accruals and prepayments, and supporting overhead analysis
Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and help investigate and resolve any discrepancies
Support the reconciliation of stock and goods received not invoiced (GRNI) balances
Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other required financial filings
Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring records remain accurate
Ensure financial records, supporting documentation and accounting systems are kept accurate and up to date
Oversee and maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices are processed correctly and queries are resolved promptly
Perform regular bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving any variances
Maintain accurate accounting records using internal finance systems
Use Excel to analyse and interpret financial data, including working with functions such as lookups and pivot tables
Work with colleagues across the business to resolve finance-related queries efficiently
Handle financial information with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in line with GDPR requirements
Support improvements to existing finance processes and assist with the implementation of new procedures where required
Provide support with ad-hoc reporting, analysis and finance-related projects
Assist with year-end audit preparation, including providing supporting schedules and documentation when requested
Provide cover for colleagues within the finance team when required and support the wider department as needed
Fully AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA as a minimum requirement
Previous experience working in a finance or accounts role
Strong Excel capability, including experience with lookups and pivot tables
Good understanding of reconciliations and core accounting processes
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders
