HR Advisor | Chesterfield
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Type: Full-time, permanent with one day working from home
We are working with a well-established professional services organisation to recruit an HR Advisor to join a busy and supportive HR function based in Chesterfield.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment, supporting managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle, and continuing to develop their generalist HR skills.
The Role
As HR Advisor, you will provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and line managers, ensuring HR policies, processes, and best practice are applied consistently across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing first-line HR advice to managers and employees on general HR matters, policies, and procedures
- Supporting the end-to-end recruitment process, including advertising, shortlisting, interview coordination, and liaison with agencies
- Managing onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive employee experience
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR systems
- Supporting absence management processes, including recording, monitoring, and reporting
- Assisting with employee relations matters, escalating more complex cases where appropriate
- Coordinating training and development activity and maintaining training records
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of HR processes and systems
- Ensuring a high level of confidentiality and compliance at all times
- Providing general HR administrative support and contributing to HR projects as required
- Occasional travel to other regional offices on an ad-hoc basis
About You
You will already have experience working within a generalist HR role and be confident handling day-to-day HR queries.
You will ideally bring:
- Previous HR experience (HR Advisor / HR Assistant ready to step up)
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage at all levels
- A proactive, organised, and detail-focused approach
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong IT skills, including experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office
- A professional and discreet approach, with the ability to handle sensitive information
- Willingness to work towards (or already hold) a CIPD qualification
