We have a Quality Specialist role available within TATA Steel's Trostre site.

Role: Quality Specialist - Coatings (Metallic)

Location: Tata Steel, Trostre, Maes-Ar-Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SD (100% site based)

Pay: £32,000, £16.86ph

Contract length: 12 months initially

Shift Patterns: All 36.5 hours per week, Monday -Thursday and Friday 08:30 - 15:45

Start: January 2026 but pending the successful result of a medical, which does require a drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to Manufacturing works areas
  • Assisting with product and process development activities.
  • Documenting developments and engaging with stakeholders
  • Coordinating product development coating activities with direction from the strategic committee
  • Supporting SLA activities on behalf of the Q&PD Manager
  • Supporting the works CAPEX plans to ensure effective rollout
  • Providing key quality data and analysis
  • Providing expert advice in the development of Tinplate and Tin free steel metallic applications
  • Supervising academic students in their respective projects
  • Following safety activities/adherence within the team e.g. SWPs, risk assessments etc. ensuring that it is in compliance with all Company, Business and Works policies

Essential requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Science subject
  • Good process knowledge of the Steel industry
  • In-depth understanding of coating processes
  • Computational competence in data acquisition/manipulation
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement /six sigma principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills, effective use of word, excel, MINITAB or similar are essential to this role
  • Ability to assess data analysis, provide reporting and interpretation of results in a meaningful manner
  • Ability to follow a high level of UK Health and Safety legislation at all times
