About our client

Our client is a London-based investment firm with a dedicated focus on the financial services sector. The firm primarily invests in public equities across Europe and North America, with opportunistic exposure to credit.

The firm employs a highly fundamental, process-oriented investment approach, designed to manage a concentrated portfolio of idiosyncratic opportunities.

It is backed by a select group of leading institutional investors with long-term, locked-up capital commitments. The founding team brings deep expertise from several of the world's top-performing hedge funds and is building a high-performing, entrepreneurial platform with ambitions to become a best-in-class boutique investment firm. What the job involves

  • Working directly with the CIO, the new team member will play a central role in identifying, researching, and evaluating investment opportunities, with a particular focus on balance sheet-intensive financial services companies
  • Conducting in-depth fundamental research and financial analysis on potential investments
  • Building and maintaining detailed financial models to evaluate companies in the financial sector
  • Performing rigorous due diligence using both top-down and bottom-up approaches
  • Monitoring market trends, macroeconomic developments, and regulatory changes affecting the banking and insurance sectors
  • Presenting investment ideas directly to the Portfolio Manager
  • Attending industry conferences and management meetings to develop proprietary insights
  • Tracking and evaluating the performance of existing investments and providing recommendations
Who we are looking for
  • At least several years in investment banking, private equity, or consulting, including a couple of years of buyside experience, with a focus on financial institutions and services at some point in their career
  • Strong quantitative skills and experience building complex financial models
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Sharp analytical skills with ability to identify patterns and mispricings
  • Commitment to learning and following a disciplined investment process
  • Detail-oriented and intellectually curious, with excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate investment theses
