Accounts Assistant in West Malling - Farrer Barnes Limited

The Company
I’m working with a well-established construction business based in West Malling, recognised for its steady growth, strong leadership team and long-standing client relationships. They offer a supportive, down-to-earth working environment and are now looking to strengthen their finance function with an experienced Accounts Assistant.

The Role
This is a great opportunity for an AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA finance professional who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and wants to be part of a stable and friendly team. The position covers a broad range of day-to-day accounting tasks, with a strong focus on CIS and subcontractor accounting, making construction experience highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing subcontractor invoices and managing CIS payments
• Handling CIS deductions, submissions and monthly returns
• Supporting purchase ledger and sales ledger activities
• Assisting with bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting month-end close and reporting processes
• Dealing with supplier queries and resolving invoice discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
• Assisting the Finance Manager with ad-hoc finance duties

Skills & Experience

• AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
• Previous experience within construction or a CIS-focused finance role
• Good understanding of subcontractor processes and CIS regulations
• Comfortable working across both purchase and sales ledger
• Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proactive, reliable and able to manage a busy workload
