Financial Controller in Poole - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited

A well-established, privately owned and market-leading organisation, is recruiting a commercially focused Financial Controller to join their team. You will be working in a pleasant office space (with free parking) 5 days a week, with home-working available as needed on an ad hoc basis (e.g. MOT, boiler service, fridge delivery, etc.).

Your new role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting and financial reporting, overseeing a team of 3-4. You will be a key individual within the SLT, responsible for generating monthly management accounts, cash-flow reporting and the preparation of statutory accounts. The role requires strong commercial acumen, the appetite to improve systems/processes and the flexibility to pitch in with ad hoc tasks as and when needed.

Key Duties:

• Preparing monthly and annual reports for senior management.
• Managing cash flow, VAT returns, payroll, and statutory payments.
• Leading and developing the finance team, to oversee Sales, Purchase & Nominal Ledgers.
• Ensuring compliance with financial legislation.
• Liaising with external auditors and managing audits.
• Overseeing credit insurance, invoice discounting, and risk management.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar senior finance role.
• Strong knowledge of financial compliance and experience in managing audits and external relationships.
• Expertise in cash flow management, VAT, payroll, and statutory returns.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to provide strategic financial advice to directors.
