Location: Blackburn, BB2
School Type: 1 Form Entry Catholic Primary School
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:45am - 3:30pm)
Pay Rate: £13.68 per hour
Duration: Until July 2026

We are recruiting a Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming 1 form entry Catholic primary school in the BB2 area of Blackburn. This full-time position is a general TA role, supporting whole-class learning, with elements of SEN support, including providing targeted 1:1 and small group assistance where required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain broad primary school Teaching Assistant experience, while also developing skills in supporting pupils with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities - Year 5 Teaching Assistant
  • Support teaching and learning across the Year 5 classroom

  • Provide general classroom support, including small group and 1:1 assistance

  • Support pupils with additional needs (SEN) as required

  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated and adaptive learning strategies

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and independence

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What We're Looking For
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Classroom Support is desirable but not essential

  • Candidates with experience in SEN support, care work, behaviour management, SEMH, youth work, or support work are strongly encouraged to apply

  • A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting children

  • Willingness to support the ethos and values of a Catholic primary school
