Job Description
Management Accountant - Cleckheaton (fully office-based) - Up to £50,000
This is a hands-on Management Accountant role supporting a business that runs longer-term contracts and project work. The finance team needs someone who's comfortable with WIP, project costing and keeping the numbers honest month to month.
What you'll be doing
- Producing monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, commentary and variance analysis)
- Working closely with ops/project teams on contract performance and project margins
- Managing WIP, including accurate valuations, accruals, deferrals and revenue/cost recognition in line with internal policy
- Maintaining project costing, tracking costs-to-complete and highlighting risks/overspends early
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting, with a focus on contract/project pipelines
- Improving MI around contracts (profitability, cash, billing, work done vs billed)
- Assisting with year-end audit queries and schedules as needed
What success looks like
- Month-end is clean, on time, and understood by the wider business
- WIP is robust and well supported (no nasty surprises at quarter-end)
- Project/contract reporting is clear, practical and action-focused
- Stakeholders trust the numbers and use them
What we're looking for
- Proven Management Accountant experience in a contract/project environment (construction, engineering, manufacturing, services or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of WIP and long-term contract accounting
- Confident with project costing, margin analysis and revenue/cost recognition
- Good Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups; Power BI a bonus)
- Comfortable being in the office full-time in Cleckheaton
- Part-qualified / qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) helpful, but experience matters most
What you get
- Salary: Up to £50,000
- Fully office-based role in Cleckheaton
- Varied role with genuine ownership across contracts/projects
- A straightforward, practical finance team (no fluff)
