Are you an ambitious qualified ACA /ACCA looking for an opportunity to develop your managerial career in Public Practice? Our client is an established firm of Chartered Accountants and is recruiting for an Audit Manager, to deal with the varied requirements of SME businesses in respect of audit, accounts and taxation.

There are prospects for progression to partner level which would be discussed in due course.

Audit Manager - Main Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to Audit Partner.
  • Full time role 90% audit related with balance being accounts preparation.
  • The role will involve dealing with the day to day management and “doing” of the audit.
  • Meetings with clients and planning the audits.
  • Management of the audit staff and mentoring of the team.
  • Support with Grant sign off’s (Automotive Grant funded Projects).
  • Not all audits are remote so some travel to clients will be required.
  • The firm has around 28 audits of up to c£75M turnover, some of the details are below:
  • Subsidiaries of US companies
  • Stand alone audits in the Paint and Consumables - £20m turnover
  • Vegan Frozen food company
  • Software company - £5m turnover
  • Plumbers for new builds - £18m turnover
  • UK Group, automotive accessories - £20m turnover
  • Recycling company - £8m turnover with Gross assets and employees over the threshold
Other aspects to the role
  • Managing the requirements of owner managed businesses including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
  • A role which will combine management but also for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and doing the work rather than simply reviewing the work of junior staff.
  • Maintaining strong business relationships with existing clients and assisting with the development of new business.
Audit Manager - Candidate requirements
  • A Public Practice background and either ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Strong audit experience
  • Basic tax computation ability
  • Knowledge of various accounting software including Mercia for audit would be useful but can be learned.
