Accountant / Account Manager - Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance

• Review bookkeeping (payroll, CIS, VAT) and ensure timely, accurate submissions.

• Prepare and finalise statutory accounts (FRS 105/FRS 102).

• Review trial balances, control accounts, and Self-Assessment returns.

• Manage statutory deadlines and communication with relevant authorities.

Advisory & Advanced Accounting

• Improve accounting systems and workflows; recommend automation tools.

• Support tax planning (director remuneration, dividends, structure).

• Implement internal controls and contribute to KPI development.

Management & Leadership

• Supervise and mentor junior staff.

• Manage workflows and review outputs to meet deadlines.

• Support operational planning, recruitment, training, and process improvement.

Client Engagement

• Act as primary contact for client queries.

• Build strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive insight.

• Present financial information in a clear, strategic manner.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA or equivalent).

• 3+ years in UK practice.

• Strong Xero experience; solid knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, CIS, PAYE.

• Proven experience with statutory and management accounts.

• Experience supervising staff.
