Group Financial Controller | VC-Backed Growth Business
London based: 3 days per week
Compensation: £90k - £110k (dependant on experience) + bonus + wider benefits


Cedar are excited to be partnering with a high-growth, VC-backed business in their search for a Group Financial Controller to help steer their finance operations across the UK. This is a career-defining opportunity to professionalise a scaling finance function, drive reporting excellence, and help shape an exit-ready business.

Working closely with the CFO, you'll combine strong technical control with commercial insight, building a fast, accurate, and consistent finance engine.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone who thrives on precision, and pace. The role is split evenly between the following.

  • 33.33%: Overseeing the team, improving systems and the operational mindset across finance
  • 33.33%: Business partnering across all departments, mainly operations, finance and product
  • 33.33%: Helping to integrate new launches/products in the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close across UK and US entities.
  • Own consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting with clear commentary and actionable insight.
  • Design and implement a robust global control framework.
  • Manage liquidity, cashflow forecasting, FX exposure, and working capital.
  • Oversee external audit, tax compliance, and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partner with FP&A to align actuals, forecasts, and performance drivers.
  • Coach and develop a 1 direct report.
  • Drive process automation, system adoption, and data integrity improvements.
About You

Experience & Background

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA) with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Industry experience in PE-backed or growth-stage environments.
  • Bonus: A background in practice would be ideal.
  • Proven success improving month-end close, controls, and multi-entity reporting.
  • Skilled in managing or mentoring in your current or previous roles/
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and consolidation.
  • A commercial, inquistive mindset. Coupled with the ability to build relationships.
