Job Description:

To deliver a Cost Base Reduction (CBR) committed to the Authority through the development of a cost-effective, commercially driven supply base, and meets the requirements for Governance and availability.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership, management and development direction for the Strategic Category Team.

- Ability to operate and provide leadership across all aspects of the category pillar.

- Take category ownership of pillar activities in key areas.

- Identify and promote best practice across the pillar.

- Deputise for Head of Category as required.

- Maintain Forward load planning for responsible areas.

- Maintain Re-let scheduling for given areas and highlight any delays or risks to program.

- Ownership of Category’s Strategic needs.

- Support development of Category Strategy and executing the plans to meet the Business Objectives.

- Manage Cost Reduction Strategies through to completion.

- Identify and mitigate Supply and Commercial Risks throughout the Implementation Process.

- Optimise project deliverables consistent with the expectations and objectives surrounding quality, service, cost, and innovation.

- Coordinate the negotiation of all the key commercial data and supplier agreements relative to a specific project.

- Support Strategic Supplier Negotiations.

- Rationalise Supply Base for the benefit of the Client.

- Lead or provide support on Tender Activity across the business as appropriate.

- Work closely with colleagues and suppliers to identify improvements.

- Process and Performance Improvements

- Undertake benefits deep dives on relevant contracts where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

- Leadership and management skills: ability to develop and best utilise skill sets to deliver businesses and individuals’ objectives.

- 3 years’ experience in a relevant Purchasing / Supply Chain environment at Line Management Level desirable

- Ideally educated to HND / Degree Level Qualification in relevant subject, MCIPS qualified or working towards, or equivalent qualification.

- Professional and Ethical in Approach.

- Proven ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.

- Excellent Communicator at all Levels across all Media.

- Good understanding of supply chain management and procurement, including best practise purchasing and Sourcing Tools and Techniques.

- MS Office.

- Ability to influence Senior Level stakeholders across the entire business unit.

- Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
