Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Childrens Finance Manager on a 6 months contract initially with a possibility of further extension.
An opportunity has arisen for a 6 temporary role as Finance Manager supporting Children's Services. This will also involve support to the Safety Valve Programme. Work will involve managing a team of 6 staff with 2 Senior Finance Officers reporting into the Finance Manager, collating monthly budget monitoring information, attending Senior Leadership Team meetings to present information and support Children's Services with budget setting and financial queries. The job is primarily home working but there may be occasions when attendance at face to face meetings is required.
This is a finance manager position specifically looking after Childrens services, All of children's services with the exception of schools. Support the learning services that support schools the post holder would have an involvement in the safety valve programme so would prefer someone that has knowledge of this or has been involved in it before.
This is a management position managing 2 senior finance officers who are both experienced know what they are doing. The person coming in would need to lead the team support and guidance - not saying it runs itself but would need to be budget monitoring information more about the support to the service directors attendance at senior leadership teams present budget monetary figures support with any other finance business cases.
Would prioritise a candidate from a childrens services background and if not would consider adults services. MUST have local authority experience.
Working arrangement: The finance team generally go in once a week, scope to go in more if post holder would like to. Also a lot of the team fully work from home so happy to consider workers that are not local to Huddersfield on a remote basis.

* Provision of a comprehensive, high quality and timely financial management service that is directed and controlled in accordance with statutory, financial and Council procedures.
* Achievement of corporate and Service objectives.
* Continuation of high-quality financial processes, together with assisting in their improvement and further development through review, evaluation and challenge of practice and current expectations and by recommending and overseeing the implementation of change.
* Aiding the Service Director, and Head of Service in the development and maintenance of financial planning processes.
Knowledge, qualifications, skills, and experience;
Member of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body.
Experience in the application of resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation
An awareness of the current issues affecting local government and the financial implications for local authorities. Experience of complex financial systems in a large organisation
Experience of supporting the preparation of budgets, medium term financial and service plans and introducing appropriate mechanisms to monitor their activityIf this sounds good to you, please apply for further information or call us directly
