Job Description: 
As a Kerb Layer, you will be responsible for installing curbs or kerbs, which are raised edges along roads, pavements, or other surfaces, to define boundaries, enhance safety, and improve aesthetics. Your primary duties will involve preparing the site, setting out the layout, and constructing kerbs using various materials and techniques. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and advancement within our organization.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
- Site Preparation: Prepare the construction site by clearing vegetation, removing debris, and leveling the ground as necessary to create a suitable foundation for kerb installation.
 
- Layout Setting: Mark out the layout and alignment of kerbs according to engineering drawings, blueprints, or project specifications. Ensure proper positioning and dimensions to achieve the desired design and functionality.
- Material Handling: Handle and transport kerb materials, such as concrete, stone, or precast units, using appropriate equipment and machinery. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials to the site.
 
- Kerb Installation: Lay kerbs along designated edges or boundaries using hand tools, equipment, and techniques appropriate for the chosen material (e.g., casting, bedding, or dry-laying). Ensure accurate placement, alignment, and spacing of kerbs to achieve a uniform and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
 
- Jointing and Finishing: Fill joints between kerbs with mortar, concrete, or other suitable materials to secure them in place and provide stability. Smooth and finish exposed surfaces to achieve the desired texture and appearance.
 
- Quality Control: Inspect kerbs during and after installation to ensure compliance with design specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. Address any defects, discrepancies, or issues promptly to maintain construction quality and integrity.
 
Requirements: 
- CSCS Blue Groundworker or Kerb Layer ops (Structural) 
 
- Proven experience as a kerb layer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
 
- Knowledge of kerbing techniques, materials, and equipment.
 
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
 
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment relevant to kerb installation.
 
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
 
- Valid driving license may be advantageous for site travel.
