Design Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Design Manager to join our team within this very successful privately owned contractor. As the Design Manager you will be responsible for the management of all technical and design functions on a large new build and mixed used regeneration projects. The role will encompass some pre-construction phase work through to delivery on site including handover.

You will have a strong track record of ensuring quality design information is provided in accordance with project requirements (programme and budget). You will also be responsible for appointing and managing external consultants. You will possess strong management skills and be a team player who possess robust technical skills including excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, the Planning process and warranty requirements (when necessary ). This role would suit someone with a contracting background that has had some developer exposure but not necessary and who is keen to progress their career within a reputable business.

* Ability to prioritise and delegate as appropriate effectively negotiate, motivate and communicate in order to influence others to ensure that the required objectives are met.

* Leadership skills including assertiveness, being decisive, flexible, good time management, organised, effective at leading / participating in meetings, works well under pressure and to strict deadlines.

* Experience and knowledge of planning, financial and legal processes.

* Up to date knowledge of best practice and the latest products and specification items available in the marketplace.

* An ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management with respect to Client, Professional Practices and site operators, both internal and external to the Company.

* Degree level education or 5+ years relevant industry experience.
