Head of Asset Management 

Hybrid working; Based at either of office in Newcastle upon Tyne or Liverpool Street, London, with home working and regular travel across our national property portfolio 

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw) 

Circa £85,000 - £90,000 per annum, plus car allowance of £5055 per annum and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as Head of Asset Management and supercharge performance across our national property portfolio.  Leading our Asset Management team and working closely with our Regional Directors of Customers and Communities, you’ll deliver our strategic asset management plan, driving strong performance of our assets.  You’ll ensure our portfolio is safe, sustainable and meets the needs of our customers, delivering on our Customer Promise. 

You’ll determine our asset investment plans and the careful timing of our programme of capital upgrades to enhance value and maximise return, working closely with regeneration, property services, building surveying, property data and systems as well as wider Home Group teams. 

Key priorities as our Head of Asset Management 

As a key member of our senior management team, you’ll provide strong, clear and expert leadership across our Asset Management function, promoting a culture of performance, transparency and excellence - casting a positive shadow.  

Delivery of our Asset Management strategic plan, working with a collectively commercial focus to drive asset performance and growth.   

Advising colleagues, our Executive Team and Board on all asset investment/divestment decisions and being a critical friend for decision making from acquiring assets to day-to-day property management.   

Supporting the establishment of a robust planned maintenance plan across all property and tenure types, reducing reactive maintenance spend.   

Ensuring the performance of our asset portfolio, that it is well governed, meets regulatory and legal requirements with robust reporting and evaluation.

You bring  

Substantial asset and portfolio management experience across a range of residential tenures (rented and leasehold) and property types (flatted, housing and mixed use).  You have extensive knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation. 

Experience of leading a wide range of complex property litigation matters, interpretating, challenging and enforcing covenants and lease terms. 

RICS membership or equivalent. 

The ability to engage, negotiate, and influence both internal and external stakeholders with credibility, instilling trust and confidence. 

Excellent people manager, able to inspire, influence and embed a motivating performance culture.  

You’ll be a great influencer, intuitively collaborative and who listens to and advocates for customers.  You see the bigger picture, we can be the most caring organisation in the world, but if we can’t make it stack up commercially, we’ll fail, you’ll help us find that balance.

Job details  

Full time, 37.5 hpw, flexible working hours (we’re open to agreeing a work pattern with you).  If you need to nip out to walk the dog or do the school run, we’re ok with that too! 

Flexible hybrid working, based from one of our offices with regular travel across our national property portfolio and also working from home. 

A full current driving licence as you’ll work and travel on a national basis and will be provided with a car allowance as part of your remuneration package to do that.
