Location: Flexible hybrid working with site visits across the UK as required

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum depending on experience + car allowance (£600 per month) + bonus (up to 50% of salary paid annually) + benefits

The Role:

We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for main and subcontract negotiation, commercial risk management, financial project reporting, developing employees commercial understanding and abilities, agreeing terms and conditions with the supply chain and contractual administration.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

* Working together alongside the Operations team to commercially manage a portfolio of circa £25m per annum.

* Monitoring commercial operational activities across multiple projects.

* Demonstrating strong leadership skills in all aspects of the business activities.

* Overseeing Pre-contract agreements and LOI’s.

* Assisting with negotiation of contracts.

* Completing contractual administration across client facing main contracts and key subcontracts.

* Translating the company’s strategic plans into defined operational plans.

* Implementing positive cashflow and milestone creation.

* Financial management of projects, including monthly client invoicing, project cashflow management, and invoicing substantiation.

* Attending monthly project finance and milestone meetings with the Commercial Manager, and bi-monthly meetings with the quantity surveyors to review project performance.

* Attending weekly Commercial workflow meetings.

* Proactively engaging in a culture of continuous business improvement.

* Working efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines.

* Mentoring junior surveyors and assisting with their development while efficiently utilising them as a resource to support own workload.

* Staying up to date with technological changes within the industry.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Quantity Surveying/ Commercial Management, or equivalent. You will have a proven track record of working as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally having a background in civils/ groundworks or high voltage electrical projects.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of construction contracts (ideally to include FIDIC and/or NEC contracts) and a good track record of contract management. You will have a strong understanding of budget and cashflow management and a proactive and initiative-taking approach to work tasks. You will have a professional demeanour and possess excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with ease.

Ideally, the role holder will have advanced MS Office skills (more specifically Excel). The ability to learn bespoke systems quickly is required and experience of using Smartsheets would be beneficial.
