Hybrid working – based in Ellesmere Port, England, UK . WFH (Mon & Fri), Office Days (Tue-Thu)

Our client is a not-for-profit organization that fosters collaboration between industry and innovators in the energy and utilities sectors. They were established 15 years ago to accelerate the discovery, development and deployment of innovation for the Energy Networks.

They scan the globe to find innovators who can develop ground-breaking new ideas to
improve efficiency, safety, accelerate the transition to net zero and support consumers in vulnerable circumstances for our major industry partners from the Gas and Electricity Sectors .

Summary of key skills & experience required:
At least 15 years’ energy industry experience, preferably working for a UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or Transmission Network Operator (TNO)
In depth Technical Electrical Power Systems knowledge and expertise
Excellent understanding of challenges associated with the Energy Transition to a smart, flexible, low cost and Low-Carbon Energy System , as well as a range of business areas including operations, asset management, health and safety, fault performance
Ability to lead or support the delivery of strategic industry initiatives
Excellent report writing skills and facilitation experience
Pro-active, self-motivated with a focus on delivering high quality outputs
Work under limited supervision and effectively manage workload.

Role Summary

In this exciting role, you will:
Be responsible for developing a high-level Energy Systems Transition strategy, considering a
whole system approach
Share industry experience and provide guidance to members of the team as appropriate.
Be the main point of contact for technical queries relating to Electrical Power Systems
Collaborate with Energy Network partners to scope and develop robust challenge statements to enable innovation in specific business areas to drive positive change across the industry
Host industry workshops and meetings to develop ambitious proposals and project plans for presentation to industry partners
Develop credible technology development and trial propositions, in conjunction with innovators, for consideration by industry and external investment partners
Assist with the technical due diligence required to support industry investment
Develop proposals and project plans for presentation to industry partners
Seek out new technologies, innovative SMEs and value-adding service providers
Assist innovators in identifying potential markets for new technologies
Support the delivery of projects and deployment of solutions
Contribute to the growth and ambition of the organisation

Minimum requirements for the role:
At least 15 years’ experience in a technical role, preferably working for a UK DNO or TNO , with an excellent understanding of a range of business areas including but not limited to operations, asset management, health and safety, business planning, innovation, fault performance
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships across a broad range of partners, resolve conflicts and manage expectations of multiple stakeholders
Be self-motivated with an ability to effectively manage workload
Good team player with a flexible approach to working hours
Excellent report writing skills
Extensive project management or authoring experience
Keen eye for detail.

Desirables:
• A degree or equivalent in a relevant energy industry subject
• Chartered Engineer
• Small to medium group facilitation experience
• Small to medium team leadership experience
• Experience of working with or in a small to medium enterprise
• An understanding of the legal and commercial factors associated with solutions development
• Knowledge of the RIIO regulatory regime and of both NIA and SIF funding streams.
