Job Description NES Fircroft are working with a large engineering company who are looking for a Structural & Civil Engineer to work with them on an initial 6 month PAYE Contract basis.

This is a full time position (37 hours per week) with flexible start and finish times.
Work from home is available on a Monday and Friday.

The Role
The right candidate will be responsible for the design & co-ordination of Blast Furnace Plant Structural & Civil Engineering. Will execute and co-ordinate structural and civil engineering using local and international design houses in conjunction with inhouse resources.

The Structural & Civil Engineer will be responsible for Pre-Project and Project design strategy - Including Execution strategy, productivity, technical output, resource control, progress, product standardisation, health and safety and compliance

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Structural Engineer shall:
Produce, monitor and/or check that technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, manuals etc. meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations / National Standards.
Work with the Project team as the technical focus for Civil & Structural aspects of all projects to ensure a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include monitoring and reporting budgets, progress and change management.
Comply with the company operating procedures and statutory obligations. Participate in project Design & Safety Reviews, Risk Assessments etc.
When required, ensure that structures have been manufactured, tested and installed in accordance with the design / operational requirements. Advise customers of construction methodologies and good installation practice following local and international standards.
Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project, future business.

Required Skills and Experience
Have a good understanding of the requirements of heavy industry turn key projects.
Structural basic and detailed design skills, able to work alone or in groups to produce innovative, robust designs, built with both manufacture and operation in mind and suited to the harsh environment they will operate in.
Design calculation ability, usually with ‘MathCAD’ or Microsoft Excel required.
Working knowledge of environmental, health & safety and technical regulations.
Establish and co-ordinate large work packages with local and international design centres. With ability to check the design concept.
Advanced 3D CAD skills (Preferably Autodesk Inventor).
Candidates should possess a formal qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering and have evidence of at least 10 years experience in heavy industry structural or civil engineering works.
Experience of project engineering and the project lifecycle from contract award through to installation/commissioning from a specific disciplined engineering view.
Experience of iron & steel industry advantageous.
