The Project
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of their existing petrochemical facilities in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices.

You will bring your experience and expertise to the PMC role while working within the customer’s organization as part of an integrated team. Position Summary
Excellent opportunity for an Environmental Engineer with strong Indian permitting & regulatory expertise seeking a new challenge in a fast-paced environment.

Responsible for assigned activities within environmental engineering discipline on the project. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of environmental engineering principles and practices to the project. Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the environmental discipline on the project. Represents the environmental discipline on the project with Contractors and Owner to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the State and Federal - statutory & regulatory approvals process for all projects sites including but not limited to environmental permitting.
Coordinate with client to ensure that statutory & regulatory approvals are successfully achieved according to project schedule.
Liaise with client and PMC team to ensure that any inputs to statutory & regulatory applications are timeously produced to support the process.
Communicate with relevant authorities (as required) to support client with statutory & regulatory approvals process.
Coordinate with other leaders within the project organization to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are properly addressed with resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
Promote the creation of a work environment supported by leadership which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
Participate in project technical reviews, progress and review meetings.
Prepare, coordinate, and review designs, studies, reports and proposals.
Interface with overall project team and client on a regular basis showing excellent communication skills.
Ensure that project is compliant with federal and state environmental legislation and regulations.
Deliver excellent quality work, showing thoroughness and rigor in checking and attention to detail.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:
Hold a recognized science or engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
Excellent understanding of Indian statutory & regulatory requirements - including, but not limited, to environmental permits.
Recent and verifiable experience of obtaining Indian statutory & regulatory approvals both at federal and state level.
Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision showing a high degree of professionalism.
Have experience in EPC industry and with large-scale project execution.
Have experience as previous PMC / Owners’ Engineer.
Desirable:
Have familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
Previous Energy, Chemical or Petrochemical experience.
Previous experience of working in India.
Experience of managing 3rd party contractors for ESIA/EIA, air dispersion modelling, effluent dispersion modelling, etc.

Relocation / Logistics
If you are successful Bechtel will organize your relocation and logistics (Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai)

We will provide accommodation for you whilst you are in country (single or accompanied by spouse).

If you prefer rotation from UK:
Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilize and spend 10 weeks working in country and then you would go home to UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration..
