The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic master planner with a background in landscape architecture to accelerate our sustainable design process and elevate the environmental performance of our projects. You will have a passion for making a more sustainable world by preparing master plans for the next generation of lower carbon industrial projects worldwide.

You will have an important role in the production and design of next generation industrial master plans under the close guidance and support of a senior design leader.You will focus on design excellence and leverage the capacity and capability of early career professionals and junior architects who can support you with the delivery of master planning projects. You will be an excellent communicator and have a passion for working with others.You will be passionate about mentoring junior members of the team and be someone who others can look up to.

Your typical working day will:

Focus on the delivery of the pre-feasibility and feasibility stages of locating and designing industrial-led projects across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region;

Be a leading designer on conceptual master plans with a focus on integration of landscape solutions and sustainable urban design; and

Mentor others on landscape architecture, sustainable practice and environmental design.

Be based in the UK, ideally in the Southeast with flexibility to travel to London as required. You will have the option of hybrid working remotely from home and from the office.

Be part of the Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics (TIL) business line in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region.

Report to the Master Planning Practice Lead for EMEA, based in London, UK

Collaborate in a global master planning network with the combined goal to support and grow the industrial master planning service offer across all regions.

Develop as a master planning subject matter expert to guide site feasibility studies, strategic development frameworks and conceptual master plans.

Have opportunities to develop as a project manager and design leader.

Apply and develop new design thinking principals to the master planning process to define, assess and develop appropriate solutions that are human-centric and balancing the needs of people and planet.

Apply and integrate new methods of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) into the spatial master planning process, finding innovative solutions to make facilities greener, more user centric and efficient.

Provide strategic direction and guidance to junior architects and master planners.

Assist with business development and bid preparation to grow a world-class industrial master planning capability.

Collaborate with other Worley Consulting business lines of TIL, Environment & Water (E&W), and Energy, Chemicals & Resources (ECR) Advisory to cross-sell and enhance the client service offer.

Evaluate new opportunities to integrate AI and generative design capabilities in the master planning process.

Provide opportunities to travel on business and have a desire to experience different cultures and ways of working.

About the person
Skills/qualifications required:
• 5+ years’ experience in a master planning design role within a relevant consulting, planning or architectural practice.
• Be trained and have experience in the delivery of landscape architecture projects.
• A successful track record of designing industrial master planning projects across the EMEA region.
• Experience in “Design Thinking” and user-centric design principles.
• Excellent communication skills (graphically and verbally).
• Be a strategic thinker, curious, analytical, and interested in outside-box solutions.
• Be collaborative and comfortable in group workshop environments.
• Always seeking innovation and continual improvement.
• Understand the importance of clear narrative and story-driven approach.
• Ability to travel and work with a team.
• Collaborative team member.
• Assist in the use of technology in improving delivery and performance.
• Good working knowledge of 3D design software (i.e., BIM, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, Rhino 3D and AutoCAD) systems.
• Knowledge of AI generative design tools and capabilities is beneficial.
• Knowledge of scripting tools (such as Dynamo or Grasshopper) is beneficial.
• Fluent English communication skills (spoken & written).
