Job Description Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Protection and Control Equipment

Location: Midlands
Rate: £50,000 to £75,000
Duration: Permanent

Turner Lovell are looking for multiple Protection and Control Design Engineers, to work with a global EPC and equipment supplier in the renewable energy and electricity transmission markets. Having recently bid and won high profile projects across the globe to help tackle energy transition targets, they are rapidly growing the team to fulfil these increasing demands. In this role, you will be working on major projects across the UK, designing systems to be installed for onshore and offshore substation. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technologically driven and complex renewable energy projects. Key Duties:

Produce high level specifications for control, protection and SCADA systems.
Design of HV protection and control systems.
Production of AC and DC schematic drawings, cable block diagrams, cable and termination schedules
Oversee junior engineers and CAD specialists to develop designs in E-plan and other engineering software packages.
Be responsible for ensuring the designs are safe and adhere to the required electrical standards.
You will be required to define the protection and control equipment specifications and bills of material, to ensure the design are accurately costed.
Develop designs suitable for 132kv, 275, 400kv, offshore transmission and larger transmission grid systems.
Work with other disciplines and subcontractors to ensure designs are compliant to customer expectations and deliverables.

Key requirements:
HNC, Degree or master’s in electrical engineering or related subject.
2 - 10+ years in secondary electrical substation design
Strong knowledge and understanding of SCADA, protection and/or control equipment and systems for substation projects.
Demonstrable design experience with one of the following: electricity transmission, distribution, transport or industrial Substations.
Experience or interest to move into renewable energy projects.
Previous experience working on UK projects.
