Job Description
Real Estate Group
The Real Estate Group at Evelyn Partners incorporates people from across our Tax, Transactions, Assurance and Advisory service areas. In Real Estate Tax, we provide tax advisory and compliance services to UK and international property investors and developers, including funds and asset managers, REITs, overseas investors, housebuilders, owner-occupiers, landed estates, and private clients. We also work closely with our colleagues in Transaction Services in relation to Real Estate M&A assignments, providing financial and tax due diligence, tax structuring and transactional support services. Many clients and targets are international, whether investing from overseas into the UK or investing into assets abroad, and, therefore, many of our assignments involve working with colleagues from across our CLA Global network.
This is an exciting time to join the Evelyn Partners Real Estate Group, as its undergoing significant growth and Real Estate is a strategic focus sector for the firm. We are looking for candidates with specific experience in Real Estate who would thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial working environment. Candidates should have excellent technical skills that they can apply in both an advisory and compliance capacity, and strong client/project management skills to support senior team members with delivering advice and growing client accounts.
Job purpose
To manage the delivery of tax advisory & compliance services for a range of clients across the real estate sector. You will be expected to lead transactional work and manage the delivery of tax structuring and due diligence assignments in connection with client M&A activity, including the co-ordination of work from specialist teams. You will be expected to manage junior team members, utilising the team to deliver on projects and develop junior staff through delegation and coaching. You will need to work with the senior team to manage client accounts and help to build-out prospective opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Client work
Manage a portfolio of complex tax advisory projects and compliance assignments
Deliver robust technical research for complex assignments
Provide exceptional client service, and help manage and develop client relationships
Co-ordinate transactional work, delivering tax structuring and due diligence for real estate M&A activity
Co-ordinate the delivery of specialist tax advisory work (e.g., VAT, Stamp Taxes, Capital Allowances)
Project manage international tax assignments, working with our CLA Global network
Identify opportunities to cross-sell other services to existing clients
Ensure compliance with the firms quality assurance and risk management procedures.
Staff Management and Development
Liaison with senior team members.
Counsel and develop junior staff through delegation and on the job training
Appraisals/monitor staff performance including acting as a Line Manager
Work collaboratively with peers in the team and across firm to ensure a joined-up approach
Practice Development
Involved in business development activities/profile raising
Actively use network of established relationships to drive new business opportunities and cross referral of services
Building your own client and internal relationships
Qualifications
Key skills experience
UK corporate tax gained within the profession and/or industry
Client driven and commercially minded
Strong awareness of specialist taxes and their application in the real estate sector
Excellent project management, working with various teams including cross-border work
Demonstrable experience of managing people and clients
Excellent communicator
Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
Professional Qualifications
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) and/or CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA, e.g. law qualification)
