About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Engineering Manager to join our UK design team. As a Principal Engineering Manager you will be responsible for will be responsible for the management and leadership of a design team including project financial responsibility
The position is required to support our expanding Water Utilities workload and will typically involve providing designs for water and wastewater; infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. This will include design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction, and commissioning. The specific role is required primarily to support our Severn Trent, United Utilities and Northumbrian Water frameworks however there will be ample opportunities to work on other projects and frameworks throughout the UK for a variety of clients.
This is a permanent position and will be of a hybrid nature ideally based in or around our Durham office however, we are open to receiving applications from candidates from across the UK to be based at one of our other regional offices or on a remote basis.
What will your day look like
A technical expert providing design guidance, support, and challenge.
Ability to identify the scope of projects and incorporate them into a priced programme of work.
Deliver all design aspects across the project lifecycle to time, cost and quality metrics.
Act as the single point of contact for projects.
Provide guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and project requirements.
Scope plan and manage effective all project design requirements.
Ensure compliance with H&S, CDM and other appropriate regulations.
Liaise with Clients on technical matters and maintain a strong working relationship.
Liaise with stakeholders regarding project matters and provide technical reports, permits, responses to queries etc. as required by the project.
Assess tender and project requirements and prepare fee estimates.
Project administration reporting to line management including monitoring structural design programme delivery, resources, and budgets.
Lead and inspire team members to deliver first class project performance.
About you
Bachelor or masters degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
Chartered Engineer (C.Eng, I.Eng) or working towards or experience equivalent to relevant competency requirements.
Preferable to have previous people/line management experience.
Strong management and co-ordination skills?
Problem solving and technical realisation skills.?
Sound knowledge including statutory processes and technical standards.
Knowledge of current H&S legislation and the CDM Regulations?
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment?
