Behaviour Mentor

Hours: 8.30am – 3:30pm
SEMH Provision in Blackburn
ASAP Start date.
£13.00 - £15.00 p/h
Full-time – temporary contract
An SEN provision in Blackburn is seeking a passionate support assistant who can provide support for their young people with SEN, aged 11-16. The young people's needs vary and may include Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties.

These roles are to start as soon as possible and is confirmed until the end of the academic year. For the successful educator they may want to secure you beyond this point.

Your working day will involve supporting pupils in varying subjects across the curriculum. The school cover secondary key stages and all subjects are delivered in ability and age based; differentiated to meet the individual needs of all the children within the class group. You will also assist with the development of social and emotional skills and encourage positive behaviours, relationships, and outcomes.  Class sizes are small, with learning led by a teacher and supported by an appropriate number of teaching assistants reflecting the individual needs and abilities of the group.

As this is a challenging environment you will ideally have experience in this sector and have worked with challenging individuals. This doesn’t necessarily have to be in a school setting and can be from care, residential, youth work, camp America, prisons, sports coaching etc!

The school are open to various experience and try and recruit based on the unique skills a candidate can bring to the role, giving their pupils exposure to new experiences.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
