The aircraft is expected to be in flight from 2024 and in service from 2026 (capable of carrying up to 100 passengers or 10 tonnes in weight). As an aviation technology company one of their main core values is innovation and they have a genuine focus on being the best at all they do to positively impact their aircraft designs today and for the future.

Main Responsibilities:

* With the Head of Systems Engineering, you will utilise your experience of working across a broad area of design, from concept through to detail design and limited test/production support, to define, plan and manage activities in support of aircraft electrical and avionics design work.

* Design and development of aircraft avionics systems: Electronic Flight Instrument Systems, Flight Management Systems, Communication, Navigation, and Identification systems design. You will be central to the success of the programme by technically driving the programme to define, plan and manage the activities in support of aircraft avionics design work.

* Develop system and equipment specifications: Writing Interface Control Documents, management of supplier engineering, selecting equipment, producing wiring schematics, test procedures, system testing and validation and verification activities. Contributing to the quality, safety and integrity of the aircraft, ensuring accuracy and precision when preparing technical documentation, including specifications and reports.

* Development of a completely new airframe: Working with the Programmes team, providing input into Statements of Work, supporting engineers for vehicle system testing and providing technical support for development programmes.

* Future flight test planning and aircraft development: Working closely with Engineering and other teams within the business, on all aspects of aircraft development, you will provide analysis results and support decision-making to inform future flight test planning and aircraft development work.

* People management: once the team expands, you will be responsible for not only building and guiding your team towards achieving organisational goals but also for ensuring their personal and professional growth and well-being.

Benefits:

* Negotiable basic salary dependent upon experience

* Flexible working hours

* Early finish on Fridays at 12.45pm

* Hybrid working- office and home

* Company pension scheme with Royal London

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

* Life Assurance

* Private Medical Insurance scheme

* Health Cash Plan

* Employee assistance programme 24/7

About You:

* Good education in engineering which may be by means of a degree-level qualification or HNC/ HND-level qualification in engineering, plus experience in a relevant role or equivalents from the UK or other educational systems, or by suitable experience.

* Proven experience in the Aerospace industry with an emphasis on Flight Deck Avionics.

* Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical documentation in plain English.

* Exposure to processes across the product ARP4754 lifecycle from concept through to production.

* An awareness of CAA/ EASA/ FAA certification procedures and operational rules.

* Ideally, you will have experience in, or desire for, building, leading, developing and nurturing a high-performing team. This role demands a passion for fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where each team member feels valued and empowered.

* Whilst producing 2D and 3D designs for electrical wiring diagrams or cable harness installation drawings is not an essential requirement, we will consider applicants with these added skills.

* Utilise your experience, knowledge and passion for learning to introduce innovative approaches and creative solutions within your role, team and beyond. Be flexible in adapting to new challenges and opportunities as they arise.

* Cultivate positive working relationships within both your immediate team and the wider organisation, embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment of mutual respect and kindness. Demonstrate self-awareness and proactivity in reducing the impact of your work on the environment.

* Act with integrity and uphold high standards of professional behaviour and delivery in all aspects of your work. Pay attention to detail that contributes to a positive customer experience and satisfaction.

* Work closely with your team members, leveraging your experience and positive, proactive energy to facilitate collaboration and communication. Nurture a spirit of partnership and team-win to achieve common goals and objectives.
