Job Description

Services Manager Probation Services
Job Type : Full Time, Permanent
Location: Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Norfolk
Salary: £35,344 per annum
Did you know that at least 25% of people who are convicted of offences will go on to re-offend? We are on a mission to stop that.
This is a role for a highly motivated individual who can lead our East of England teams in our mission to stop reoffending. You might work in our CRS currently, and you might not – but you do share our drive to change he future of men on probation, and the Criminal Justice System itself.
We’re looking for someone who has knowledge of and a passion for desistance theories and knows how to turn those into great quality services. The Criminal Justice System is under pressure. Men of Probation need you to be able to raise the bar, change standards, thinking and approaches.
In East of England we currently deliver the ‘Personal Wellbeing’ CRS to men on probation. We are contracted by HMPPS to do so. We deliver services and interventions aimed at helping men with needs in ‘Emotional Wellbeing’, Lifestyle and Associates, Family and Significant Others, and Social Inclusion. In other words, we provide support so that they build relationships with their community, other services, pro-social friends, families, and themselves. We support men on probation to successfully complete their probation supervision, to stop offending, and to live their potential. Building a crime free life stops the cycle of harm
What you will be doing?
You will lead three Team Leaders, Peer Coordinators and Supporting People on Probation Navigators (currently called Health and Wellbeing Practitioners – we’re making some changes!). Services are delivered in Probation Delivery Units and other local community settings across all counties. We also work with partnership agencies and subcontractors and you will be responsible for their successful delivery too.
You will work a combined pattern of remote working, and travelling across the services you are responsible for. You should expect to spend at least three days a week meeting staff, partners and visiting probation delivery units in your area.
Reporting to the Personal Wellbeing Senior Operational Manager, you will be closely involved in all aspects of contract and operational management. You will ensure good contractual performance and great staff development and support. You will build upon established close relationships with senior prison and probation colleagues, commissioners, contract managers, and other agencies in your region and nationally.
What we are looking for?
Your Forward Trust values and alignment mean that you will ensure the success of our annual work plan, researching our Theory of Change, delivering more social value, and ambitious targets for Forward Connect. You will be part of our network of seven CRS Service Managers and you’ll take an active interest and part in all Forward Trust CRS (Accommodation, Dependency and Recovery and Personal Wellbeing) delivery across the UK.
CRS are being recommissioned in the next 12 months and we are expecting changes in service design. (We welcome the changes and have helped influence them). This means you will be closely involved in Theory of Change and Service development work, and will have a very close relationship with Business Development colleagues. You’ll be a key player in mobilising changes.
What we offer
* Salary band of £35,344 - £43,662. Starting salary depending on experience
* 25 days annual leave and bank holidays (annual leave rises to 30 days with length of service)
* 3 additional wellbeing days to be spent by you in any way that supports your health, no questions asked.
* Contributory Pension Scheme – Employer matched contributions of up to 6% in the first two years’ service and up to 9% thereafter
* Death in Service Payment (2x annual salary)
* Critical Illness Insurance (subject to qualifying criteria)
* Continuous professional development, including the option to complete a diploma in leadership and management.

* Flexible working options
* Bluelight Card eligibility
* Season Ticket Loan Scheme
