A leading MEP Commissioning Management consultancy is urgently seeking an experienced Building Services Engineer who has the experience and desire to take on this challenging and rewarding AD role.We need someone who is capable of running a business unit commercially and who has an understanding of commissioning. This role requires a great leader of people who has super client facing skills and is capable of winning work. You will have a track record in managing multiple projects at once.
Primary ObjectivesTo effectively develop and manage the commissioning service internally and in particular withinthe key account. To promote cross selling amongst the staff and other related companies and toliaise closely and collaboratively with the directors of the company.This includes:Seeing that our projects are delivered without harm to our staffor people affected by our work.Acting as a key point of client contact.Actively engage with client to identify new opportunitiesActively seek additional scope within existing and plannedprojectsTaking an active and purposeful role in identifying opportunitiesand in developing innovative tender solutions, documents andfees.Promoting the companys technical abilities through thoughtleadership programmes.Making full use of the companys management systems inachieving the primary objectives.By careful management of staff utilisation and expenses, seeingthat projects achieve forecast profit levels.To manage a team of people with the aim of getting the verybest performance through open engagement and supportTo work diligently, efficiently and professionally at all times
Key AttributesIn addition to working closely with many different members of a construction project team at sitemanagement level it involves building internal relationships and undertaking managementactivities that help manage the company efficiently. It requires the ability to think andcommunicate clearly, to remain focused and to lead construction delivery staff and office teammembers whilst remaining motivated during fast moving periods of complex activity.

Ideally registered as a Professional or Chartered EngineerIdeally an engineering degree or equivalent qualification.Demonstrable in industry technical experience.
Experience:10years' + industry experience within ProjectManagement/Commissioning Management.Will have one or more specific, relevant area of technicalexpertise.Demonstrable experience in the managing of direct reports andmultiple projects
Core Responsibilities:
Provide positive and effective management and set an exampleto other members of the team.Developing commercially astute fee submissions.Maintaining a team of commissioning engineers/agents,optimising staff utilisation.Accurately forecast staffing requirements and identifyingrecruitment needs and potential candidates. At all timesmanage and control resources on projects.Accountability for project delivery in full accordance with ourappointment to include technical and commercial compliance.Commercial management of project change.Accountability for the quality of service, delivery andmanagement of client expectations.Responsibility for project related safety insofar as it relates toour work.Providing positive and effective management and setting anappropriate example to other members of the team.Report any performance problems to line management.To fully adopt and comply with the Companys project, internalmanagement, and quality systems.Take a very active role in the winning work process.Evaluate, identifying strengths, problem areas, and developingplans for improving performance.Taking an active role in the business and budget planning andmanagement processesSeeing that the management of the commissioning processdelivers systems that are set to work optimally and verified assuch, in accordance with the design requirements.Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning andperformance requirements, commissioning strategies,programmes, scopes of work, test scripts and the like.Leading, managing and mentoring junior staff.Ensure that monthly accounts are submitted promptly,accurately and ensuring that all costs are considered.Providing routine internal commercial and progress reporting inaccordance with management time requirementsMaintain systems to see that Quality Management System ISO9001 and 14001 are implemented.Progress all sales opportunities.Develop and pursue new and existing sales leadsEnsure No Claims are made on PI, ensure all Contractdocuments are diligently checked.
Typical duties include:
Day-to-day management of commissioning engineers andagentsManage impact of change on our feesRoutine review of data in our project management software.Developing comprehensive responses in respect of tenderreturns.Forecast and report revenue and resource requirements forsecured, pipeline and prospects within the key accountAssisting in the development of design and commissioningdocumentation for tender and construction purposes.Manage the bid process including tracking new opportunitiesand through delivering high quality, commercially viable biddocumentsSupport presentations for new projects and co-ordinate allother inputAssist in Marketing and Corporate events.Attend project and internal meetings as reasonably required.Support projects during client discussions of a technical natureReview technical and project papers/reports and sign off beforepublication.Structure training and succession of the teams to enhanceperformance and ensure future engineering expertise in thecompany.Management and detailed recording of meetings.Providing technical advice to clients in respect of project andoperational risk.Develop standard in-house documents and guidesAttend and present key information at project review meetingsKeep abreast of current design trends and technologiesSubject to approval, interview and recruit new team membersSign off timesheets and expenses of direct reportsMaintain register and carry out Technical audits on projects asrequired.Undertake staff appraisals and CPD activities.Manage direct reports in respect of time and expenseTo prepare high quality content for use in the marketing of thecompany.To attend meetings as required.To work with other members of a professional team inevaluating progress, difficulties and costs.To assist in continuing to develop the Companys managementsystems and processes.
Contract Management
See that fees status and monthly draw down schedules areroutinely updated in the company systemsAgree deliverables directly with the Client as necessary.Accurately track, report and develop fee claim for additionalwork or abortive timeFacilitate all invoicing for all services or disciplines offered ontime.Pursue all outstanding sales ledger debtors (60 days maximumtarget).Liaise with project leads to ensure that all projects deliver therequired profit.Provide information to allow any complaints to be properly andfairly dealt with.Carry out after sales and Client reviews.Ensure that all projects deliver agreed profit target of salesledger.Record any changes of scope, which may affect fee basis andadvise client.Hold post contract completion and end of defects reviews withclient.

Have a thorough understanding and kept abreast ofcommissioning industry standards and governance. This is toinclude but not limited to ASHRAE, CIBSE, BSRIA, LEED, WELLBREEAM etc. and make sure we are kept abreast and adapt tonecessary changes.In addition to role and project specific duties, other requirements are detailed below. These areintended to encourage and address wider engagement in the organisation.To maintain regular contact with Clients and build/fosterrelationships outside of a project environment.Support presentation for new projects and help co-ordinate allother inputSign off all reports.Working with all members of staff to maintain and develop thepositive progressive culture within the company.To accurately complete timesheets on a weekly basisTo pre-actively support other members of staff in undertakingtheir workPromote and foster a strong, ethical, friendly and efficient teamculture and working environmentConstantly portray a professional image to colleagues, senioremployees and Client in person and in all communicationsUndertake other such duties as the Company may reasonablyrequire from time-to-time.Developing the technical and managerial skills of current/newstaff by contributing to their Personal Development Plans.Development with your line manager the technical developmentthe company takes in pursuit of new business.Pursue sales leads generated by others.Working with our marketing team develop/produce externalmarketing material to enhance our position as industry lead incommissioning services.
