Job Type : Full Time, Permanent
Location: New Addington, Croydon
Salary: Outer London Teachers Main Pay Scale (SP1-SP12) £34,514 to £46,001 per annum plus SEN allowance £2,539 per annum For an exceptional candidate an additional recruitment and retention allowance may apply
The Academy is special Free School in Croydon for children and young people with autism and learning difficulties. The school opened in 2020 and provides 150 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
The new purpose designed school is equipped to meet the needs of students and includes sensory gardens, indoor sensory rooms, soft-play area, and a large cookery room along with other facilities to encourage students to learn skills to live independently. Students access specialist support enabling them to learn and achieve in a nurturing and aspirational environment.
The Role
The school are looking to appoint an inspiring, dynamic and talented Music Teacher who is committed to ensuring that every student achieves their maximum potential across their music curriculum and enrichment programme. We want a teacher who has passion, enthusiasm, alongside the skills and desire to develop and nurture the musical development of our students from KS3 to KS5.
Key Responsibilities
Have clear intentions for childrens learning and to use knowledge of school policy and National Curriculum requirements to plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning.
Use a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and to communicate clear learning objectives and expectations.
Use relevant classroom management strategies to ensure that a purposeful environment for teaching and learning can take place.
Organise and maintain a stimulating working environment appropriate for the range of activities taking place.
Ensure that resources are organised and readily available to promote learning.

Skills and Qualifications
Be willing to follow the school Child Protection Policy and procedures and undertake mandatory Safeguarding training as directed by the school.
Have experience and understanding of practice and principles for
Safeguarding children within an educational setting.
Qualified Teacher Status.
Additional qualification in the education of children with SEN.
Recent experience of delivering at KS2.
Recent experience of working with and/or teaching pupils with
special educational needs within a school setting.
Experience as a numeracy or literacy lead.
Professional Skills Fulfil the Professional Standards for Teachers in England.
Proven ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
Proven ability in working successfully as part of a staff team.
Evidence of knowing how to evaluate ones own strengths and weaknesses.
Evidence of effective partnership working with parents and carers.
Evidence of successful multi-agency working.
